손파

 

Sohn paa was major painting figures & abstract in university.

 

He interested in human "Body" of pain & cure, then stated his ‘museum’ series.

He use oriental acupuncture needle(about millions of needle) for figures.

 

Opposite extremes have much in common.

Pleasure and pain; life and death; inside and outside.

Whereas being a way off from suffering would be a fear, the inside of agony teaches me I can stand this much pain. I, therefore, look for the wisdom to heal huge suffering through tolerable little pain.

 

Each acupuncture needle for medical treatment has been used to relieve pain with little bit of pain when needle is inserted one's skin. With the needle for medical curing, I would like to represent exhibits of museum, which conserves a collection of artifacts of human history. The Museum series presents armor, helmet, book, and jar, which embodies dual quality of weapon as a protector and threats of one's body, and with the symbolic items of museum, I suggest the idea of benefit of knowledge and at the same time, we should be paying attention to blind faith in it.

 

From the reason that we are all physical existence, I would like to interpret physical phenomena and mental diversity in a sense that those two opposite qualities should be incorporated into an 'one theme'.

양극은 서로 다르지 않다.

 

고통과 쾌락, 삶과 죽음, 안과 밖 ......

 

먼발치의 고통은 공포지만 그 속에서 본 고통은 견딜만하다. 작은 고통을 통해 큰 고통을 치유할 수 있는 지혜를 구한다.

 

작품에 사용된 한방 침들은 적은 고통으로 수많은 상처를 치유해 왔다. 치유를 위해 사용된 침으로 인류 역사의 기록인 Museum의 전시물들을 형상화해 보았다. Museum 시리즈는 몸을 보호하기 위한 도구(갑옷, 투구)와 책, 그릇, 무기의 형태로 선보인다. 보호와 위협의 이중적 의미를 포함하고, 지식의 유용함을 드러내면서 동시에 맹목적 믿음의 오류를 경계한다.

 

몸의 존재로부터 파생된 물리적 현상과 정신적 변주를, 다르지 않은 하나라는 테마로 풀고자 한다.
